Progress on Hardanger Heart

I've finally finished stitching the Hardanger Heart. I had found the design in an old 'Classic Stitches' magazine. It's a Thea Dueck design from "The Victoria Sampler".

There are 3 different filling stitches that I had not done before. "Blanket Stitch Flower" - I must admit I gave up on this stitch and did my own design instead. "Lacy Needlewoven Medallion", which I enjoyed doing. Then lastly "Edelweiss". The first time I did this, it did not look quite right. I noticed that the back was the right way, so I restitched the heart all over again. The "Edelweiss" was much better.

Here's a close up for you to see.

A combination of "woven quadrant" filling and  a "spider's web" filling in the centre.

Here's what it looked like before I did the filling stitches.

Heart complete.
I can't believe how long it has taken me to do.  I have been so busy and now the snow has arrived and it's getting colder.  I hope the snow clears up very soon.

And the Winner Is .......

Here go's the drum roll ...... And the winner is Cucki.  Congratulations!  I will be emailing you for you snail mail address.

Now you must be wondering what I have been up too.  Well, my daughter is getting married very soon, and I am stitching her something special.  You will have to wait to see what it's like.  But as usual I have got side tracked and I'm stitching her a Hardanger Heart.  It's a design I found in an old "Classic Stitches" magazine, and is by Thea Dueck of "The Victoria Sampler".  Here is what I have stitched so far.

Hardanger Heart - Designed by Thea Dueck.
The next task is to cut the threads, so I hope I do it right.  There are some beautiful filling stitches to go inside the squares, Blanket Stitch Flower, Edelweiss Stitch and Lacy Needlewoven Medallion.  These are all new stitches for me, so it's going to be a challenge.  So watch this space to see how I progress.

Until Next time, Happy Stitching Everyone.

SURPRISE!

I had a wonderful surprise phone call the other week, from my daughter saying that she had just got engaged.  So I have been busy stitching an engagement card especially for them.  All in her favourite colours, and here it is.

Hardanger Heart using DMC 4220 thread/floss and lilac beads.

Finished Card.

A surprise also awaited me this morning.  The doorbell rang and the postman had a small package for me.  I wondered what could be inside!  I soon opened it and found I had won a Giveaway from "Cross Stitcher Magazine".  Inside was 8 Christmas Cross Stitch kits and 2 packs of 10 cards to put my stitching in.

Owls Heart Hanger

Hello, and Welcome to all my new followers.
I've had another go at the heart filled with owls.  This time I've chosen my own colours, and I'm quite pleased with the outcome.  I have made it into a heart shaped hanger.  It's the first one I've done, so it's not perfect.

My own colour choice.

Back.

The next thing I will be stitching is the April Oakhaven Owl Sal.  I've also got my eye on a Blackwork Owl.  Owls keep on appearing this year.
