"Waiting for Santa" and "Ice Skating Penguin"

Hi Everyone

I've just finished stitching Margaret Sherry's new freebie "Waiting for Santa".  I just love her cat designs.  He's just so cute, I had to stitch him straight away.  Fortunately, I had all but one of the Anchor colours, but I found a similar colour to replace it.

I've also stitched an Ice Skating Penguin from "Enjoy Cross Stitch at Christmas!"  Issue no. 1, which came out in 2008.  This magazine supplied all the threads and aida fabric.  I used the threads provided and hated them.  I also used three strands instead of two, so that it covered the fabric better.  I love the designs but not the threads.

Photographer Cat

New finish - Photographer Cat by Margaret Sherry.  One of the "Sports and Hobbies" designs.  I just had to stitch this cat.  It reminded me of myself.  Camera in hand and hoping to capture the right image, especially birds.  Isn't he gorgeous!

I spotted some lovely poppies in a field of corn while I was out the other week and I just want to share them with you.

This week I have been very busy helping at a Children's Holiday Club.  It was only in the mornings but quite exhausting.  But the best reward was to see the happy smiling faces of the children as they were enjoying themselves so much.  There was even a barbeque for all the families of the children on Thursday evening and we were blessed with good weather.

Another week is almost over and I have a finish.  This time a bookmark, with a cat holding a heart shaped balloon.  Yet another gorgeous design by Margaret Sherry.

Birthday Card for Joyce

It was also my friends birthday this week and here is a picture of the card I sent her.

Nottingham, famous for Robin Hood.

Gainsborough Old Hall in Lincolnshire

Gainsborough Old Hall is among the biggest and best-preserved medieval manor houses in England. 

It is part timber-framed but mostly brick-built. It was built in the latter part of the 15th century

 with Elizabethan additions.

Chesterfield 

 

Chesterfield in Derbyshire, is famous for it's crooked spire.

Stitching Cat

Hi Everyone

Here is my latest piece, a "Stitching Cat", which comes from the Margaret Sherry Alphabet, "X" for Cross Stitch.  But I have not stitched the "X".  I started it and finished it today!

Birthday Princess

I've entered a challenge on MSCSG.  What we were asked to do was stitch one of Margaret Sherry's Sketchies and be creative, use painted fabric, coloured threads and add a little touch of yourselves! It can be a new saying, buttons, lace, anything you want.  So this is what I have come up with.  Adding Mill Hill glass seed beads 00553 and Metallic threads.

Letter Prize has arrived

My letter prize has arrived in the post today.  I can't wait to use the Madeira Silk threads.  I've never used silk thread before.  I received 10 spiral packs of silk threads and a thread cutter from Madeira together with a leaflet about the silk threads.

Welcome to my first ever blog!

Well, I've finally taken the plunge and started a blog.  I'm hoping to share with you, all of my stitching that I am  doing this year.  Hardanger is a passion of mine, so I hope to show you how easy it is.  Also I will put links on to show you where you can find freebie patterns.  I've also been going through my stitching stash and have discovered a lovely sampler that I purchased over 17 years ago!  I know, I was in shock when I found the receipt.  Well I have started it again and I will post pictures of how I am progressing.

I can also post my first finish for 2011.  "Santa Paws" by Margaret Sherry.  Isn't he cute!
