Update and Hardanger.

Hi Everyone

I thought I would show you what I have been up too.

It was my friends birthday last week and I wanted to give here a special card.  I did not have must time to stitch it, so I thought I would do a simple Hardanger card for her.  It only took a few hours and I so enjoyed it I stitched some more cards.

Theses are all Mary Hickmott designs from 'Christmas Colour with Hardanger Stitches' leaflet.  Of course I've changed the colours to suit the occasion, but its a very handy leaflet to have for all year round.

Here is one of the Hardanger Wedding Cards that I have stitched and made into a card.

The larger Wedding Card is almost complete, and the Wedding is next week-end.  I've re-done, yet again (6th time) the Edelweiss motif and I'm finally happy with it.  I also noticed that I had missed some stitching out and one of the smaller hearts was too big, so I sorted that out also.  I finally added small pearl beads in the centre of each motif and around the heart.

Heart-felt Sentiments from an old 'Classic Stitches' magazine.
A Thea Dueck of 'The Victoria Sampler' design.

Now, how shall I decorate the card?  I was thinking of putting some white lace down the sides!  I don't want to over do it.  I will post a picture when it is finally finished.

You can find a 'Heirloom Wedding Sampler Free Pattern' from "The Victoria Sampler" here.  It shows  just one of the motifs (a different filling stitch is used).

Until next time.

June Update!

Hi Everyone

I'm a bit late in updating the IHSW, but I'm finally here.  I said I would show you each stage of the stitching of my Hardanger hearts, so here they are:-

1 of 3 Finished Hardanger Heart with Square filling together with pearl beads.

Kloster blocks in place.

Algerian Eye Stitch in place.

Threads cut and removed.
Woven Bars and Square filling stitch done.
2 of 3 Hardanger Heart finished with  Square and Dove's Eye filling together with pearl beads added.
3 of 3 Hardanger Heart finished with Square and Dove's Eye filling together with pearl beads added.
Hardanger Heart with threads removed and pulled, awaiting filling stitches.
First motif on left is a Blanket Stitch Flower.  The middle motif is Edelweiss Stitch.
All 3 motifs now finished.  Left - Blanket Stitch Flower.  Middle - Edelweiss Stitch.  Right - Lacy Needlewomen Medallion.

I have not been very happy with the Edelweiss Stitch and I have re-stiched it 3 times already.  I think I will re-do it again until I'm happy with it.

All of the above are going to be for Wedding/Wedding Anniversary Cards.  All I need to do is find some cards to mount them in.  I will eventually show you them when they are finished.

Now for something different.  Here is a finish.  A Christmas Angel cross stitch design by Permin.

Update on my 2015 and 2016 stitching.

Hi Everyone

It was February last year when I last showed you my stitching.  So I thought I would show you how I have progressed on some of the items I last showed you.

Yes, I have a finish.  The two Dutch children is now done.  It was a freebie from 'Borduurblad', and can be found here.  I'm now thinking of making it into a small pillow.

I have progressed with the 'Delft Blue Tiles', but not as far as I would have liked.  There are still lots more to do.  A link to the 2012 SAL can be found here.

Hetti has a new SAL called Merkwaardip Merklap / Sampler and can be found here.  I just love old samplers and wish I could stitch more, and I also love the designs that Hetti has on her blog.

Other items that I have stitched during the year

Loved this design of "See no Evil, Speak no Evil and Hear no Evil.  This was a freebie from
J Rosa Creation, but I cannot find it on her blog anymore.

This is a Textile Heritage 'Celtic Bird Needle Case' Kit.  Just need to finish it off and make it up into the Needle Case.

Close up of the Celtic Bird.

Here is another Textile Heritage Kit.  This time its a Lavender Sachet.  I just need to finish off the backstitching before making up.

Some Finishes for 2015

This is the birthday card I stitched for my friend Janet.  She loves mermaids.  This is a freebie from "The Little Stitcher"  and its called 'The Guardians of the Sea'.

Here is the Golden Wedding Anniversary Card that I stitched for my brother and his wife.

Here is a close up of the Hardanger work.  I have a basic heart pattern that I often use, but used different filling stitches in the centre each time I use it.  As it was for a Golden Wedding, I used gold metallic threads and beads that were in my stash.

Here is a Ruby Wedding Anniversary card for my friend Joyce.  I did not have very much time to do this one, but managed to quickly stitch this in time.

This is the Christmas card I stitched for Mary Grace in Malta.  This is from a cross stitch chart by 'Designing Women Unlimited', called "Angel Orchesta".   I changed the colours of the dress and added my own beads that I had in my stash.

Here is the Christmas card I stitched for my daughter and her family.  The chart can be found here.  The family love monkeys.  I was not sure how to decorate the card, but I found these light bulbs to decorate it from my stash.

Christmas Designs

Next are some Christmas designs that I have stitch.  Some will be made into Christmas tree decorations and others into Christmas Cards.

These three designs came from 'Cross Stitch Card Shop' issue 45.  They are designed by Lesley Teare.

Here are two more Lesley Teare designs and are freebies on her blog.

Angel with candle, from a Framecraft design.

This is a Aury TM design.  A Quaker Nativity.

Another Nativity design found in my stash.  I think I shall redo the star and do it in gold metallic thread.

2016 Finishes

This is a Permin design of Santa walking down the stairs.

Another Permin design of a snowman and elf.

Finally, I've managed to show you all the things that I have done.

Until next time.

I'm back! And some stitching to show.

It's some time since I last posted anything.  I have no excuses to give.  But I would like to share with you all what I have stitched.

First of all, it was a special birthday for my daughter, so I stitched her one of the freebie Hardanger designs from Nordic Needle, called Hardanger with Crystals #4 (just scroll down to find it).  I found her favourite colour in my collection of threads and used beads instead of crystals.  I also decided to put a different filling stitch in the middle of of Kloster blocks.  (I do like to changing things sometimes.)  After looking through my stash I finally found a card to put it in.

You might see the detail better in this photo.

And finally here is the baby card I stitched for my hairdresser.  Its a Sam Hawkins design.  I just used up some of my odd threads, and I'm pleased how it turned out.  As you can see, she had a little girl.

FREEBIES

There are some great freebies to be found on the webb.  Here are a few that I have found.

Passione Ricamo.

Brookes Books Publishing has started a new series of Advent Animals, and the charts can be found here (just scroll down the page).  Please note that I have not stitched these designs yet.

I just love Christmas designs.

Well, thats all for now.

Happy Stitching Everyone.
